The Australian Government has officially confirmed the rollout of the Cheaper Home Batteries Program, a $2.3 billion initiative designed to make battery storage more affordable and accessible nationwide. Following Labor’s victory in the 2025 federal election, this landmark rebate will commence on 1 July 2025.

✅ Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for the rebate:

• The battery system must be sized between 5 kWh and 50 kWh
• The battery must be VPP-capable (Virtual Power Plant ready), although you are not required to participate in a VPP
• Only one rebate per premises is permitted

The rebate will be administered via the Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme (SRES) — the same proven system currently delivering solar subsidies across Australia.

📅 Can You Install Early?
