Our client has just finished construction of their new multi-million dollar packaging facility in Stapylton near Brisbane. Part of the approval process for this new state of the art packaging and warehouse facility was the inclusion of a 100kW solar energy system.
The biggest problem facing the client was the very strict rules and regulations imposed by Energex in QLD. Part of the grid connect approval criteria was that no solar energy would be able to feed back into the grid.
We had to configure a zero export device to work with the four large commercial ABB inverters that were installed. The zero export device that we supplied was able to communicate to the solar inverters the facilities LIVE energy demands. Therefore if energy consumption by the facility was to fall below the output of the 100kW solar system then the zero export device would automatically instruct the solar inverters to reduce output capacity so that solar PV array would not generate any more AC power than what is required by the facility at that time.
This solar energy system was configured with 400 x 250w Phono Diamond Solar Panels and four ABB 3 Phase Solar Inverters. Phono Solar is a tier 1 ranked solar manufacturer and ABB is considered to be one the best brands of solar inverters on the market.
